Homosexuality and Halakhah: Pragmatic, Ideal and Real Responses to the Challenge
February 27, 2017 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Place: At the home of Dina and Michael Glouberman in Beverlywood. RSVP for address.
Since the 1970’s, Orthodox gay Jews, their family members, and friends have sought sought guidance from rabbinic leadership to help them grapple with emotionally fraught questions of religious belief, halakhic observance and belonging. Rabbi Steve Greenberg will explore the various halakhic responses that continue to shape the lives of individuals and families. On the basis of an Eshel survey of 60 Orthodox rabbis, he will offer three distinctive Orthodox approaches to this challenging new set of human realities.
Eshel works with Los Angeles lay leaders thanks to a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles.
