Shofar Live Demo with Eshel

Sound and Sense: The Why and How of Shofar

Live Demo with R. Steve Greenberg & Steven Goldstein

Register Today

In preparation for Rosh Hashanah this year, Steven Goldstein and Rabbi Steve Greenberg are teaming up to teach a Shofar Blowing Class! As many vulnerable Jews this year will need to hear the shofar without going to shul, it’s a great year to learn how to properly blow a ram’s horn.

BYOS: It’s best to bring your own shofar if you really want to learn!

Steven Goldstein is a Professor at New England Conservatory. Steven played trumpet in high school and knows how to make a ram’s horn sing. He served for many years as the baal tokeah at Makom in Toronto and will instruct us in proper technique both musically and halakhically. His husband, our Founding Director, Rabbi Steve (Greenberg), will begin the session with an exploration into the foundations of the mitzvah of Shofar, its historic, halakhic, imaginative and literary roots and then Opera Steve (Goldstein) will give us all a Shofar tutorial!
