This shiur is for rabbinic colleagues exclusively.  Rabbi Chuck Davidson will address the problem of kabbalat mitzvot in hilchot giyyur and its implications for converting LGBTQ+ individuals.  Rabbi Kalman Pesach (Chuck) Davidson has been active in establishing Orthodox, non-coercive alternatives to Israel’s Chief Rabbinate (CR) for over a decade. Today, he heads the Wedding Department of Hashgacha Pratit in a project called Chuppot, which conducts Orthodox weddings in Israel outside of the CR. A talmid of Rabbi Haim Amsalem in giyur, Chuck is an expert in this field and worked with Rabbi Amsalem to create Ahavat HaGer, an umbrella group of Orthodox rabbis in Israel and abroad who wish to convert independently of centralized rabbinic organizations.
