Eshel Across America: DuSiah – Dialogue between Traditional Queer Jews and our Rabbis

November 8, 2020 at 6:45 pm - 8:30 pm

Eshel Across America 2020

The application process is currently closed, but please feel free to fill out the form for the second round of DuSiah, which will be held in the near future!

Eshel Across America Weekend (November 5-8, 2020)

As we read every year in Parashat Vayera, Avraham and Sarah plant an Eshel tree near their tent to signal the welcome of strangers. It is during this weekend that we, the Eshel community, celebrate our commitment to inclusion and dialogue.

DuSiah: Dialogue Between Traditional Queeer Jews and Rabbis

We are seeking 15-20 LGBTQ+ participants to join in a new Eshel dialogue initiative between select Rabbis and Eshel community members on Sunday, November 8th at 6:45pm. Space is limited, please apply below.

DuSiah is a pilot program bringing Orthodox rabbis and queer Jews into conversation. The goal is to pursue mutual understanding (rather than agreement or immediate solutions) as we share together the challenge of building an Orthodox community that includes all of its children.

This first conversation will include rabbis and LGBTQ+ Eshel members. We will meet for a little over an hour and spend most of our time in small group dialogues. There will be a short introduction, a review of our purposes and ground rules and, then, we will divide into breakout groups. Toward the end, we will return for a short recap of the evening.

Since spaces are limited we will let you know by Wednesday, November 4th if you can be part of this first DuSiah project.

[As you register for Eshel events, you may see some interesting questions, which allow us to serve you better in terms of programs and communications.]
